STEAMCOACH

Practice, Perfected. A smart practice architecture, made accessible.

STEAMCOACH helps students prepare for STEM competitions and build foundational skills through targeted practice in math, science, and music. It combines timed simulations, competition-level problem sets, and domain-specific learning tools in one growing platform.

Competition practice built for the real task

The platform models each competition’s subjects, formats, constraints, and multi-step reasoning demands before generating practice material. The goal is to create useful questions at the right level, rather than generic exercises that only resemble a topic.

Its generation workflow captures target skills and solution patterns, creates fresh variants with controlled difficulty, checks them for clarity and correctness, and then delivers them through timed quizzes, readers, drills, and focused practice apps.

A growing suite of practice tools

From SBReader to STEAMCOACH

The project began with a practical Science Bowl problem: students needed a better way to train for the competition’s speed, breadth, and decision-making. SBReader introduced text-to-speech, buzzer-driven simulation, scoring, and lightweight daily practice.

That first tool revealed a deeper challenge. Fast recall practice could help with speed, but students also needed new problems that preserved the reasoning and difficulty of real competition questions. Research into automatic question generation became the foundation for a broader, purpose-built practice pipeline.

Work with Math, For Real expanded the approach into Math Forge, and Science Bowl became one part of a larger collection. STEAMCOACH now brings those tools together around one mission: turning practice from repetition into understanding.
